Walking - Ramblers

Status:Active, open to new members
Convenor:
Group email: Walking - Ramblers group
When: On Thursday mornings
Venue: Various

VOLUNTEER LEADERS take turns to choose a venue, recce the walk and lead it on the day (Guidelines are offered). The walks are usually 5 - 6 miles with the possibility of some hills. Wet gear and walking shoes/boots essential. We usually meet at a central point to share driving & expenses. We either take packed lunches or have lunch/snack after the walk. The emphasis is on enjoyment, good craic and convivial company, all within our safety guidelines. Happy Walking!

Our group meets on all but the last Thursday of each month at 10am at various venues; Give your name to Brenda and she will keep you updated on details of forthcoming walks by email.

However, before you decide to come to walk with the group, please undertake YOUR OWN RISK ASSESSMENT, taking your personal circumstances into account and YOUR RISK TO OTHERS IN THE GROUP.

Keep your Thursdays as part of your exercise regime and walk safely

Please note:  The Third Age Trust’s Public Liability Insurance covers u3a members while out walking, but does not provide personal accident insurance. Participants on walks (including guests) should take responsibility for their own care, safety and equipment. They should remain with the group.

If you want a BRISKER slightly longer walk, an alternative to the Ramblers, the Ramblers+ group meets once a month,  on a Thursday ( usually 2nd Thursday in the month) at the same time as the Ramblers. The walks will be 6-8 miles and approx 3 - 3.5 hours including lunch.

As with all our groups, we depend on interest shown and availability of WILLING VOLUNTEERS to lead walks.
