Please assemble at the car park at the Ballyboley Forest entrance at 10.30h.
Directions: Take the M2 out of Belfast and leave at the Sandyknowes Roundabout (Junction 4), then take the 4th exit onto the A8 (direction Larne). Keep on the A8 for 9.5 miles until the exit for Ballyboley and continue onto Moss Road. After 0.2 miles turn left onto Lower Ballyboley Road, after 0.9 miles turn right onto Braepark Road, then after 1.2 miles a sharp right onto Upper Ballyboley Road and after 0.9 miles, turn left to the Ballyboley Forest entrance and proceed to the car park.
There are no toilet facilities, but Jackson's Bakery about 4 miles away (take previous A8 exit onto the B58), located on Main Street Ballynure (with adjacent parking), will welcome you before/after the walk, coffee or lunch optional.
The Walk: The walk at Ballyboley Forest and Kilylane Reservoir is circular with a short linear stretch to the reservoir. There are nice views and the total distance is 6.5 miles (with a slightly shorter option). The walking is mostly on gravel paths on gently undulating terrain. It takes about 2.75 hours for the circuit, including a short break at the reservoir. There are picnic tables at the car park. Please bring appropriate gear.
