Bridge is the most popular card game in the world! It can be played at many levels... ranging from a social foursome, right up to local, national and international competitions. At whatever level you play, you are guaranteed to exercise your mind and meet a new network of friends.

I will be starting a new bridge course for improvers on Tuesday 1st September 2026. The course will run until the end of May, with breaks at Christmas and Easter. The course venue is St Annes Hall, Dunmurry. The lessons will be held on Tuesdays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. The course is restricted to members of Belfast U3A.

This course is aimed at members who have already gained some practical experience of playing duplicate bridge (either face to face or online). The course will enable you to brush up your basic bridge skills and to improve your bidding, play and defence.

Each lesson will consist of 1 hour of theory followed by 1 hour of supervised practice play using pre-dealt hands relating to the topic that has been covered that day – the hands are downloaded from the Teacher Zone on the No Fear Bridge website. Class members will be provided with lesson notes (via email). After each lesson, as “homework”, members will be asked to play the practice hands again on No Fear Bridge using the “My Hands” feature. Therefore, to benefit fully from the course, members are strongly advised to take out membership of No Fear Bridge. This will entitle you to have a 3 months free trial followed by a discounted annual subscription of £54 per year (I will provide a student discount code)

Course members will be required to pay £2 per week to cover the cost of room hire and refreshments
